Fructo oligosaccharide (FOS)
----- powder & syrup
Description of Fructose oligosaccharides (FOS):
Fructo oligosaccharides (FOS) is a mixture of oligosaccharides (GF2, GF3, GF4)
which are composed of fructose units connected by ß (2-1) links.
These molecules are terminated by a fructose unit.
The total number of fructose or glucose units (Degree of Polymerization or DP) of oligofructose ranges mainly between 2 and 4.
Fructo oligosaccharides (FOS) is also know as Fructo-oligo,
it directly enters into large intestine without being digested and absorbed by human body,
and in intestine it rapidly promotes reproduction of bididobactirium and other probiotics, so it is also called “Bifidus Factor”.
In China,MOH’S No.11 Announcement of 2009 authorize FOS as a new nutritional fortifiers.
NO.6 Announcement of 2012 authorize FOS source from sucrose, suppiemented as nutrition fortifier.
In Japan, authorize FOS as specific health food.
In USA, FDA validate FOS as a safe class(GRAS) of food ingredient.
Properties of Fructose oligosaccharides (FOS):
sweetness: 0.3-0.6 times of sucrose
low calorie: 1.5Kcal/g calories
solubility: Soluble in water and more soluble than sucrose
viscosity: Viscosity is relativity higher than sucrose

Application of Fructose oligosaccharides (FOS):
As function factor, FOS can be applied to the dairy products, beverage, candy, pastry, wine,
baked products, livestock production, meat and aquatic products,
in addition, FOS is good of choice for diabetics.
